Special events allow us to partner with our community to better serve local foster and high-needs children and families. The money raised and resources garnered from holding events would simply not exist without our hard-working and dedicated event volunteers. Event volunteers are absolutely critical in connecting generous hearts with those in need!
Miracle Miles for Kids:
Miracle Miles for Kids, a 10K Walk/Run from Morro Rock to the Cayucos Pier, takes place every spring along one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in California. After the race, there is a celebration with live music, lunch, a diverse vendor fair, children’s activities and an award ceremony. All of the proceeds from the event go directly to the foster and high-needs children and families on the Central Coast served by the Family Care Network. Visit the event website at www.mm4k.com.

Taste of the Central Coast:
The Taste of the Central Coast is an elegant fine foods and wine tasting event that showcases local talent while raising funds to support the local foster and high-needs children and families served by the agency. This elegant afternoon event is held each Autumn at the Cypress Ridge Pavilion in Arroyo Grande, and includes a live and silent auction where guests bid on beautiful items and services donated from local businesses. All proceeds earned at the event support services and programs that directly benefit children, youth and families on the Central Coast. Visit the event website at www.TastOfTheCentralCoast.com.

Sponsor a Child for Christmas:
Each December the Family Care Network hosts a Holiday Open House for all of our clients and their families. For some of those we serve, this Christmas celebration is the only one they will have. For all, it’s a wonderful display of support and care poured out by the Central Coast community. The Family Care Network hosts two Holiday Open House celebrations every year, one for San Luis Obispo County clients and one for Santa Barbara County clients. At each event, the agency partners with the Central Coast community to provide gifts for over 400 children and families, in addition to food, activities and entertainment.

Miscellaneous Events:
In conjunction with the three annual events, throughout the year the Family Care Network holds smaller, community-produced events. A few examples include AGO BBQ, Polar Express and Christmas in the Mission.
Alpha Gamma Omega (AGO), A faith-based fraternity, hosts a Back-to-School BBQ for the children and youth served by the Family Care Network at the end of the summer. Volunteers are needed to gather back-to-school items and help at the BBQ.
Sylvester Winery in Paso Robles helps make the Polar Express children’s story come alive in the vintage train located at their winery. This magical event includes a reading of the Polar Express story, hot chocolate, cookies and even a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus! Volunteers are needed to help decorate the interior of the train prior to the event as well as help out at the event.
Christmas in the Mission, hosted by the Uncommonne Carolers at the San Luis Obispo Mission, is held every Christmas. All proceeds earned at the event benefit the foster and high-needs children served by the agency. Volunteers are needed to help sell and collect tickets at the door.
