Taste of the Central Coast

June, 14, 2011 -

The Family Care Network’s Taste of the Central Coast, Santa Barbara is less than three weeks away and the event coordinators are feeling the pressure of the ticking clock. The final weeks of any event are especially stressful, but this event is especially difficult as this is the event’s first year!

Wanting to expand upon the established success of the agency’s Taste of the Central Coast, San Luis Obispo County event, which the agency has been hosting for almost eight years, Family Care Network has decided to implement a Taste of the Central Coast event specifically for Santa Barbara County in 2011. In 2010, the SLO County event brought in over 300 guests, and the agency recognized an opportunity to replicate the event in Santa Barbara County in order to showcase Santa Barbara County’s unique culture while raising community awareness of the work being done by the agency in the county. Erin Reimer, one of the three Resource Development Coordinators, was given the task of building the event from the ground up. Starting in August 2010, Erin and her team have managed and negotiated all of the intricate details of planning a new event with the goal of impressing attendants and, most importantly, familiarizing new community partners with the agency’s mission of supporting local foster and high-needs children and families. Although this event is in its infant stages, its success is eminent because of the high quality of effort put into its production.

The Taste of the Central Coast, Santa Barbara County will take place on June 26th at Flag is Up Farms, owned and operated by the famed Pat and Monty Roberts and their family. The event will blend the lush and rustic country culture of the Santa Ynez Valley with the upscale flavors of Santa Barbara county’s most notable restaurants and wineries to create an unforgettable evening. With participating establishments such as Trattoria Uliveto and Fresco Valley Café serving delectable dishes and local wineries such as Arthur Earl and Rideau Winery and Vineyard pouring exquisite wines, the event will undoubtedly have something for every palate. Additionally, the event will also feature a live and silent auction, affording guests the opportunity to win relaxing getaways, unique spa services and other various specialty items. All net proceeds earned through the Taste of the Central Coast go to directly benefit the children and families served by the Family Care Network.

Family Care Network, Inc. is working hard to bring much needed attention for the need of more high-quality services for foster and high-needs children and families in Santa Barbara county. The agency is already making strides towards providing such services, but it relies on partnerships with the community to ensure that all families receive the support they deserve. The success of the Taste of the Central Coast, Santa Barbara County will not only ensure that the agency can continue to provide for those in need, it will also enable community members to enjoy an elegant evening of savory foods, fine wines and community involvement.
