Facilities Technician Trainee


The Family Care Network, Inc., an equal opportunity employer, is currently recruiting to fill the position of Facilities Technician Trainee. Training will be provided to the candidate with entry level maintenance experience and/or aptitude. This position is responsible for performing routine building maintenance and repair as well as moving furniture, setting up furniture and equipment, and various other maintenance type activities as directed. This is a Traineeship level position with on the job training under the supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, with room for advancement.

Due to the State Public Health Officer Order issued by the State of California: All workers who provide services or work in Health Care Facilities, including Behavioral Health are required to show proof of a COVID19 Vaccination. Workers may be exempt from the vaccination requirements only upon providing FCNI's Human Resources department a declination form, signed by the individual stating either of the following: (1) the worker is declining vaccination based on Religious Beliefs, or (2) the worker is excused from receiving any COVID-19 vaccine due to Qualifying Medical Reasons:

  • To be eligible for a Qualified Medical Reasons exemption the worker must also provide to FCNI's ​​​​​​Human Resources department a written statement signed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or other licensed medical professional practicing under the license of a physician stating that the individual qualifies for the exemption (but the statement should not describe the underlying medical condition or disability) and indicating the probable duration of the worker’s inability to receive the vaccine (or if the duration is unknown or permanent, so indicate)
  • To be eligible for a Qualified Medical Reasons exemption the worker must also provide to If you meet the requirements of the vaccination exemption; all unvaccinated workers are required to test weekly for COVID19.
  • Wear a surgical mask or higher-level respirator approved by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), such as an N95 filtering face piece respirator, at all times while in the facility. 

Compensation and Benefits

  • 40 hrs. - Full-Time/Non-Exempt position in San Luis Obispo County.
  • Be flexible in schedule availability in order to meet youth and family’s needs.
  • Starting rate: $17.00 per hour
  • Additional compensation:  a Spanish Bilingual differential (if applicable)

Basic Duties

  • Under the training and direction of the Facilities Supervisor, this position will perform the following duties within their skill and training:
    • Perform construction, maintenance, and repairs to the various offices and apartments leased and owned by FCNI. This includes but is not limited to painting, simple plumbing, electrical fixture replacement, appliance repair, light janitorial, and installation of various audio/video equipment.
    • Assemble and/or move furniture and equipment.
    • Assist clients/residents with relocations.
    • Basic vehicle maintenance.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


  • A minimum of 2 years of any type of work experience as well as home maintenance or related mechanical  skills.
  • High School graduate or equivalent;
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools.  
  • Requires ability to work independently and maintain work priorities.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. 
  • Must be able to drive the agency vehicles, including a moving truck and pick-up truck with competence.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent character, reputation & integrity.
  • Meet all state criminal record & health screening clearance requirements and have a valid CA driver’s license, insurance & acceptable DMV record.
